Greater Noida Bomb Threat: There was panic in the administration and police department after receiving a bomb threat to the District Magistrate (DM) office located in the Collectorate located in Surajpur police station area of Greater Noida. After receiving information about receiving a threatening email, the police immediately increased security and started a search operation in the entire campus.
Along with the police, teams of bomb disposal squad, dog squad and fire brigade also reached the spot. Security agencies thoroughly searched the DM office and the entire surrounding area. According to officials, no suspicious or objectionable item was recovered during the investigation.
Technical investigation of threatening emails
Police said that at present a technical investigation of the threatening email is being done. The cyber team is trying to find out from where the email was sent and who is responsible behind it. Digital evidence is also being examined to make it clear whether the threat was genuine or was sent only for the purpose of spreading panic.
After the incident, security arrangements have been tightened in and around the DM office. As a precautionary measure, additional police force has been deployed and the entire area is being kept under surveillance. Police say that all necessary security measures will continue until the investigation is completed.
Many cases of fake bomb threats
It is noteworthy that in recent times, many cases of false bomb threats through emails have come to light. Earlier on July 3, Delhi Police had arrested 36-year-old Nishant Tyagi, a resident of Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, on charges of sending fake bomb threat emails to Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), National Investigation Agency (NIA) and an Air India flight.

According to the police, the accused was reached on the basis of technical analysis and digital evidence. During interrogation, it was revealed that he had studied through open schooling and had taken admission in graduation in the year 2010, but could not complete his studies. During investigation it also came to light that he has been suffering from mental illness for many years and is undergoing treatment. Police have seized an electronic device from him, investigation of which is ongoing. However, no suspicious material or explosive was recovered from his possession.
