Manchester United have officially received clearance to confirm the signing of Cristian Orozco, marking a major step in their latest recruitment drive for young global talent.

Reports from last September indicated that the Red Devils had finalised a pre-contract with Orozco, allowing the Colombian youngster to depart Fortaleza CEIF, a top-tier side in Colombia, and join Old Trafford once he reached the age of 18.

That milestone arrived on Monday, 13 July 2026, enabling Manchester United to formally register the player. According to the Express, Orozco has already arrived in England to begin settling in. He had previously visited Manchester in December, where he was shown around both the Carrington training complex and Old Trafford.

The club have acted quickly to secure the signature of a player who captained Colombia to the final of the South American Under-17 Championship held on home soil in early 2025. Orozco has also continued to impress at club level after earning promotion to Fortaleza’s senior side last summer.

This move is part of a developing Premier League trend, with top English clubs increasingly targeting South America’s brightest prospects. Manchester United followed this pattern last July when they brought in Paraguayan teenage left-back Diego Leon from Cerro Porteno.

Orozco’s signing is one of three transactions expected to be confirmed by Manchester United in the coming days. However, unlike Andrey Santos and Karl Darlow, the Colombian teenager is anticipated to begin his journey with the club’s under-21 squad.

Meanwhile, Manchester United are also closing in on the acquisition of Andrey Santos from Chelsea. Sources within Standard Sport reveal that while final agreements are still pending for both Santos and Darlow, the club is confident of concluding the deals shortly.

As reported by Standard Sport last week, United have agreed to pay Chelsea £48 million plus an additional £2 million in performance-based add-ons for the Brazilian midfielder, who is eager to secure consistent first-team action.

Karl Darlow, on the other hand, is set to join on a free transfer after leaving Leeds United at the end of June upon the expiry of his contract. He is expected to provide experienced cover for first-choice goalkeeper Senne Lammens.
