He first gained attention with Sleeping Dogs in 1977 before landing major roles in films including My Brilliant Career, Dead Calm, The Hunt for Red October, and the Oscar-winning The Piano.
He remains best known globally for playing paleontologist Dr. Alan Grant in Steven Spielberg’s Jurassic Park, a role he reprised in Jurassic Park III and Jurassic World Dominion. On television, he appeared in series including Peaky Blinders, The Tudors, Reilly, Ace of Spies, and, more recently, featured in Netflix’s Untamed.
