The embassy said in its statement, “If you are in Duqm or Musandam, stay inside your home, hotel, or any other secure building as far as possible and stay away from windows. We are constantly monitoring the situation in the Middle East and will provide you with updates from time to time, so that you can take appropriate decisions regarding your safety.”
The embassy also said that the US government will provide necessary assistance to US citizens who wish to leave the Middle East by providing up-to-date information on available departure options.
“The top priority of President Donald Trump, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and the US State Department is the safety of American citizens,” the embassy said.
Also advised to make proper living arrangements in case you are unable to leave Oman for some reason. It further said that unless a person utilizes available travel options, including commercial flights, he or she should be prepared to remain in their home or a safe building. Also keep adequate stock of food, drinking water, medicines and other essential items with you.
The Embassy has appealed to all US citizens to remain vigilant, follow the instructions of the local administration and keep an eye on the latest advice issued by the US Embassy or Consulate.
In fact, Duqm is closer to Iran than other cities, hence it was advised to be cautious in view of the current situation.
The embassy also informed that on June 27, 2026, the US State Department had given permission to non-emergency US government employees and their families to leave Oman due to security risks.
