England and Norway are set to lock horns in Miami as they compete for a coveted spot in the FIFA World Cup semi-final.

The official in charge of the England vs Norway encounter is Clement Turpin, a highly respected and experienced referee from France.

This match will decide who advances to face either Argentina or Switzerland in the semi-final scheduled to take place in Atlanta on July 15.

England secured the top position in their group with victories over Croatia and Panama, and a draw against Ghana. In the knockout rounds, the Three Lions narrowly defeated DR Congo and then delivered a commanding performance against Mexico in Mexico City.

For Norway, who are appearing in their first World Cup since 1998, group-stage wins over Iraq and Senegal ensured their progress despite a 4-1 loss to France. They then overcame Ivory Coast before Erling Haaland netted twice in a 2-1 victory against five-time World Cup champions Brazil.

The upcoming clash at Miami Stadium will see Clement Turpin tasked with maintaining order on the pitch.

Turpin, a FIFA-listed referee since 2010, joined UEFA’s Elite group in 2012 and has since overseen numerous high-profile fixtures.

The French official has refereed 674 competitive matches, the majority in France’s Ligue 1, while also developing a strong reputation on the international stage.

He has been assigned to matches at three FIFA World Cups, including two group games in the current tournament — notably England’s opening match against Croatia and the Colombia vs Ghana fixture. Turpin has also officiated at European Championship tournaments in 2021 and 2024.

Among his notable appointments, Turpin took charge of the 2021 UEFA Europa League final and was later selected to referee the Champions League final in Paris just a year later.

At 44 years old, Turpin is recognised for his calm and balanced approach to officiating, averaging just over three yellow cards per match.

He will be supported by fellow French officials Nicolas Danos and Benjamin Pages, forming an all-European officiating team for the Northern European showdown.

Spanish officials Alejandro Hernandez and Jose Enrique Naranjo have been appointed as the fourth official and reserve assistant referee respectively for this crucial fixture.
