Tajinder Dhillon, Pollard Script MI New York Comeback to Crush Orcas’ Playoff Dreams

A brilliant knock from Kieron Pollard and Tajinder Dhillon has set up MI New York to post a 17-run victory against Seattle Orcas in the MLC 2026 on July 11 at Dallas.

Pollard (54) and Tajinder Dhillon (66*) have powered MI New York to post a thrilling victory against Orcas, keeping their playoff hopes. By this win, MINY secured third position in the MLC 2026 Points table.

After being invited to bat first, Monank Patel and Ryan Rickelton opened the innings for MI New York while Jasdeep Singh opened the bowling attack.

Marcus Stoinis brought the first breakthrough, dismissing Ryan Rickelton for 6 runs. With Baartman dismissing Pooran for 6 runs, Monank Patel and Shakib Al Hasan joined hands as MI New York scored 38 runs in the powerplay.

After Ali Sheikh bagged the wicket of Shakib Al Hasan for 15 runs, Monank Patel scored 21 runs before being bowled out by Marcus Stoinis.

Baatrman bagged his second wicket, dismissing Corey Anderson for 2 runs. However, Kieron Pollard and Tajinder Dhillon forged an 80-run partnership for the 6th wicket.

Pollard smashed his fifty with a six and scored 54 runs before being dismissed by Marcus Stoinis. On the other hand, Tajinder Dhillon also smashed his fifty and remained unbeaten on 66* runs for 27 deliveries.

Marcus Stoinis bagged three wickets in his final over, dismissing Pollard, Romario Shepherd and Trent Boult, completing his five-wicket haul.

By the end of 20 overs, MI New York scored 179 runs, with Kieron Pollard and Tajinder Dhillon being the highest run scorers for the side in the clash. Marcus Stoinis bagged five wickets while Ottneil Baartman picked two wickets.

Chasing 180 run target, Tim Seifert and Shayan Jahangir opened the innings while Trent Boult opened the bowling attack.

With the dismissal of Shayan Jahangir for 7 runs, Matthew Breetzke joined Tim Seifert as Seattle Orcas scored 46 runs in the powerplay.

The duo forged a 117-run partnership for the 2nd wicket, dismissing Breetzke for 44 runs. However, other batters got dismissed cheaply for single digits.

Rushil Ugarkar bagged Hetmyer’s wicket for Shimron Hetmyer for 2 runs. Meanwhile, Tim Seifert smashed fifty and got dismissed for 88 runs. With Marcus Stoinis (8) and Ali Sheikh (1), Dasun Shanaka and Shehan Jayasuriya remained unbeaten as Seattle Orcas scored 162 runs in their 20-over innings.

Tajinder Dhillon was named player of the match. Speaking at the post-match presentation, Dhillon said, “First of all, I would like to thank the team management. Last night, I talked to Polly, and it worked. The wicket was a little bit slow. When I went in, Polly was there. He told me to play 4-5 overs. He is a legend of the game, and it worked. I want to dedicate this to my brother, who passed away in January. He was my first coach.”
