Patna, Bihar Bureau.
In the famous Bankipur assembly by-election of Bihar, Bharatiya Janata Party has made a big change at the last moment and changed its candidate. Party’s declared candidate Abhishek Kumar Sinha has withdrawn his nomination citing family reasons. After this, BJP has declared Neeraj Kumar Sinha as its new candidate.
Abhishek Kumar Sinha had filed nomination as BJP candidate on Thursday itself. However, the very next day he submitted a letter to State President Sanjay Saraogi expressing his inability to contest the elections. In the written letter, he expressed his gratitude for the confidence reposed in him by the central and state leadership and wrote that due to family reasons he cannot contest the assembly by-elections.
This seat was earlier held by BJP state president Nitin Naveen. This seat has become vacant due to his resignation after being elected as Rajya Sabha member.
The contest regarding this by-election has become quite interesting. Jan Suraj founder Prashant Kishore has already announced to contest elections from here, while Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) has made Rekha Kumari alias Rekha Gupta its candidate.
After BJP’s decision to change its candidate, the electoral equation of Bankipur has once again become a topic of discussion. Now all eyes are on the contest for this high-profile seat.
