New Delhi: Amid the ongoing discussion about giving a chance to Vaibhav Suryavanshi in the Indian T20 team and the exclusion of Sanju Samson, former Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Parthiv Patel has raised questions on the selection process. He says that it is right to give opportunities to young players, but it does not seem logical to drop Sanju Samson from the team for this.

Speaking to Geostar, Parthiv Patel said that the biggest question throughout Sanju Samson’s international career has been about consistency in his performance. He admitted that earlier also he was dropped from the team for the same reason, but in the current England T20 series, such a decision is beyond comprehension.

‘Emotional and rational decisions are different’

Parthiv Patel said that selection should not be based only on emotions. According to him, giving a chance to Vaibhav Suryavanshi may be the right decision emotionally, but if seen on the basis of logic then the question arises as to why Sanju Samson was dropped.

He said that usually only that player is dropped from the team who is either not scoring runs fast or is not performing well consistently. In such a situation, it is natural to discuss the current selection.

Change happened after Samson’s performance

Sanju Samson, who was chosen ‘Player of the Tournament’ in the T20 World Cup this year, could score only six runs in the first three matches of the current T20 series against England. After this, 15-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi was included in the team in his place.

However, Suryavanshi has not been able to perform as well at the international level as he did in the IPL. He showed his talent by scoring maximum runs in IPL.

India lags behind in England series

India is currently in the T20 series against England Trailing 0-3. This is the first time that England has won a T20 series against India.
