Team India: Team India, which became champion by winning the ICC T20 World Cup title four months ago, seems to be struggling with continuous defeats these days. The Indian team, which has maintained its dominance in T20 cricket for a long time, has lost two series back to back. After losing the series against Ireland by 0-2, Team India has now lost the T20 series against England as well. Now the question arises that how did the condition of the team which became World Cup champion 4 months ago become so bad? What has changed in just a few months that Team India, accustomed to winning, now seems to be struggling continuously.
Why is Team India losing again and again?
1. Frequent changes in playing 11
The biggest reason for India’s defeat is the continuous changes being made in the team. Due to changing playing 11 in every match of the series, players are not getting enough opportunity to decide their role. The effect of lack of stable combination was clearly visible on both batting and bowling.
2. Lack of left-right combination in batting
The reason for India’s consecutive defeats was the lack of left-right combination in batting. Due to the continuous arrival of left-handed batsmen in the team, the opposition bowlers did not need to change their line and length. This made it easier for spinners and fast bowlers to adopt the same strategy and with the continuous fall of wickets, the pressure on the Indian batsmen increased.
3. Absence of Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah
One reason for India’s continuous defeat was the absence of experienced players like Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah. Pandya gives balance to the team in both batting and bowling, while Bumrah has the ability to change the course of the match in the death overs. Without these two, Team India’s bowling attack looked weak. Young bowlers are getting opportunities, but lack of experience in pressure matches is clearly visible.
4. Bad bowling
The Indian team also had to deal with poor bowling in the UK tour. Many bowlers gave away 27 to 29 runs in each over and were seen yearning for wickets. Except fast bowler Arshdeep Singh, no Indian bowler could perform as per expectations. From pacers to spinners or all-rounders, everyone was seen yearning for wickets here.
