Reports indicate that Manchester United’s much-discussed midfield transfer is set to be finalised soon, despite speculation suggesting it could collapse.
Over the past 24 hours, news emerged that Manchester United are edging closer to completing the signing of Andrey Santos from Chelsea for £50 million. The story has sparked considerable discussion about a potential midfield overhaul at Old Trafford, especially since the club recently secured Ederson from Atalanta.
However, the situation is not yet fully resolved. Although a €45 million fee has been agreed and the player has shown enthusiasm for the move, the deal has not yet been officially confirmed. Reports suggest that no medical examinations have taken place so far.
This uncertainty has fuelled rumours that the transfer could fall through, with some Brazilian outlets circulating unsettling claims that the move is in danger of collapsing.
Nevertheless, TeamTalk has stepped in to ease concerns, quoting a source who insists that “all will be confirmed in due course,” and that the transfer is “very much in place and still on.” The remaining hurdles are believed to be logistical rather than contractual.
It appears that both Santos and Ederson are expected to join United this summer, adding a strong Brazilian presence to Michael Carrick’s squad for the upcoming season. Moreover, United’s transfer activity is unlikely to stop there, with further additions anticipated before the window closes.
Meanwhile, Barcelona are reportedly close to finalising the signing of a rapid new attacker for manager Hansi Flick, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.
Elsewhere, Chelsea are said to be open to selling Alejandro Garnacho this summer, and could be tempted if a lucrative offer arrives from a Saudi Arabian club.
