Big blow to TMC in Bengal, three former Rajya Sabha MPs join BJP, said – public was troubled by corruption

Three former Rajya Sabha MPs from Trinamool Congress (TMC) Sukhendu Shekhar Roy, Prakash Chik Badaik and Sushmita Deb joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday. In the presence of BJP state president Samik Bhattacharya, the three leaders took membership of the party.

This development has happened at a time when by-elections are going to be held on three Rajya Sabha seats in West Bengal. These seats became vacant after the resignation of three TMC MPs.

BJP said- leaders come together for the development of Bengal

BJP state president Samik Bhattacharya said that these leaders had already resigned from TMC and have now formally joined BJP.

He said that BJP in the elections ‘Fear out, trust in’ He went among the public with the slogan and sought support and people expressed confidence in the party.

Samik Bhattacharya claimed that the political performance of the three former MPs has been good and they have chosen BJP with the resolve for the development of Bengal.

Sukhendu Shekhar Roy targeted TMC

After joining BJP, Sukhendu Shekhar Roy attacked TMC. He alleged that the previous governments pushed Bengal back.

He said that Bengal, which once led the country, now has scams being discussed everywhere. He claimed that the public has now decided to give a chance to BJP.

Sukhendu Shekhar Roy said that many people associated with politics in Bengal are angry with TMC and there is dissatisfaction among the people regarding the situation in the state.

Sushmita Deb also made allegations of corruption

Talking about her decision to leave TMC, Sushmita Deb said that corruption had increased significantly at the grassroots level in the party.

She said that when she joined TMC, there was hope for national expansion of the party, but circumstances changed with time.

Sushmita Deb alleged that there is resentment among the public regarding corruption in Bengal and now many leaders want to distance themselves from the election symbol of TMC.

Resigned after the assembly elections

Let us tell you that after the defeat in the assembly elections, these three MPs had resigned from TMC. After this Sushmita Deb became the Chief Minister of Assam Himanta Biswa Sarma Had met.

Now after the three leaders joining BJP, there is a possibility of new equations being formed in the politics of Bengal. All eyes will be on the upcoming Rajya Sabha by-elections and upcoming political activities.
