Mamata Banerjee’s party Trinamool Congress has got a big relief from the Calcutta High Court. The court has allowed the party to operate bank accounts for everyday expenses. TMC’s bank accounts were frozen recently. The important thing is that the party led by Mamata will have to accept one condition along with the permission. He will have to operate the bank account under the strict supervision of an officer appointed by the court.
The court also questioned the police about the hasty action taken. The court said that it was not satisfied with the evidence shown to order freezing of the accounts. The police could not even succeed in finding evidence. The court made it clear that the TMC rebel faction will not be able to contact the special officer until the decision is taken by the Election Commission (ECI).
In the alleged fund case to TMC, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) took major action and started investigation of bank accounts containing about Rs 440 crore. Raids were conducted at several places, including the office of a private aviation company. This matter is to the disputed accounts that came to light after the assembly elections, on which debit freeze has already been imposed.
After Bengal elections, TMC got divided into two parts. 19 MPs of the party have become rebels. The names of Kakoli Ghosh, Shatabdi Roy, Bapi Haldar, Sayoni Ghosh and Yusuf Pathan are included in this list. The important thing is that the matter has reached the Election Commission. The Election Commission had sent notices to both the groups.
