Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is on Australia tour, has given a big message while addressing the Indian and Australian industry leaders in Melbourne. PM Modi and Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese shared the stage during the ‘India-Australia CEO Forum’ and ‘Economic Roadmap Business Reception’ on Thursday. During this, PM Modi gave a new energy to the strong relations between the two countries and outlined big plans for the future.

PM Modi’s emphasis on energy crisis and trade

Referring to the global uncertainty and energy crisis, PM Modi said that in such times, it is the need of the hour for India and Australia to move forward together. He said that in the last few years there has been a tremendous increase in bilateral trade between the two countries. He proudly said that India’s exports to Australia have doubled, opening new markets for both the countries. Describing India as the most attractive place for global investment, PM Modi said that we have created a new ‘runway’ for investment and innovation.

Nuclear Energy: India’s goal and Australia’s role

PM Modi shared India’s ambitious targets and said that we are moving rapidly towards achieving 500 GW of renewable energy by 2030 and ‘net zero emissions’ by 2070. He made it clear that Australia’s technology and resources are going to be very useful in this journey.

Laying special emphasis on nuclear energy, the PM said that India has recently opened the nuclear sector to private companies. He has set a target of producing 100 gigawatt nuclear power by 2047. He said in clear words, “Australia’s huge reserves of uranium are directly linked to India’s nuclear journey.” Apart from this, the PM invited Australian investors to invest extensively in India’s infrastructure projects like ports, airports, highways and railways.

CEO Forum: A way to economic prosperity

This India-Australia CEO Forum has been working to strengthen the economic relations between the two countries since 2012. The main objective of this platform, which will be re-launched by PM Modi and Albanese in 2023, is to advise the governments of both the countries on economic growth and investment pathways. The Forum promotes business cooperation through various programs throughout the year.

During his visit, PM Modi will also co-chair the third annual summit with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese. Apart from this, he will meet the Governor-General of Australia, Sam Mostyn and will also connect with the Indian community settled in Melbourne.
