The Railways has taken strict action regarding an incident where a First AC train coupe was decorated for a honeymoon. Following an investigation that confirmed a violation of safety protocols, Girish Kumar, the Chief Ticketing Inspector (CTI) at Nanded, has been suspended, and an inquiry into the entire matter has been ordered. The Railways took this step after a video of the incident went viral on social media.
According to reports, the incident occurred on Train No. 11002, the Balharshah–Mumbai Nandedgram Express. The First AC coupe (berths 19 and 20) was decorated with flowers and other items for the honeymoon of a newlywed couple, Shubham and Sonali. This service had been arranged privately through an online booking with a decorator from Jalna.
The investigation revealed that an employee of the decorator boarded the First AC coach at Jalna station and decorated the coupe without obtaining any authorization from the Railways. The Railways has deemed this a serious security lapse, as the entry of an unauthorized outsider into a reserved AC coach violates safety regulations.
Railway officials state that no private individual or decorator is permitted to enter a train coach for decoration purposes without official authorization. Any arrangements for special occasions must strictly adhere to established Railway rules and require prior approval. Strict surveillance is maintained regarding the entry of outsiders due to security concerns.
The inquiry revealed negligence on the part of the on-duty CTI, Girish Kumar, leading to his suspension. The Railways is now investigating how the decorator gained access to the coach and determining which employees are accountable for the incident. Further disciplinary action may be taken against other employees found culpable based on the investigation's findings. The Railways has made it clear that any negligence regarding passenger safety regulations will not be tolerated.
