Ram temple donation theft controversy: Another important information has come to light during the investigation into alleged irregularities to donations in Ram temple of Ayodhya. According to sources to the investigation, at the behest of the arrested accused, an old fake receipt book prepared in the name of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust has been recovered. It is being told that during initial interrogation, the accused admitted that they not only misappropriated the donation amount but also gave fake receipts to the devotees to reassure them. The Trust’s logo was also printed on these receipts, which made them appear genuine at first glance.

According to sources, when Tinnu Yadav, Luv Kush, Karunesh, Anukalp and other accused used to take donations from any devotee, they used to hand over fake receipts in return. Due to this, people felt that their money was directly deposited in the trust account. However, later the system of paper receipts was stopped in the temple and the entire process was made online. After this, devotees started getting donation receipts through digital medium or slips were issued from the authorized counter of the temple. For this reason the accused had stopped using the old receipts.

After this matter came to light, questions are also being raised about senior trust official Champat Rai. It is alleged that information about the alleged theft was received long ago and some amount was also recovered, but a case was not registered with the police at that time. According to sources, this issue was also discussed in the trust meeting. Some members raised the question that if the FIR had been registered at the initial stage itself, the matter would not have escalated so much and legal action could have been taken in time. It was also asked in the meeting who was responsible for the security of the offerings and the arrangements to it and why the police was not immediately informed despite the alleged recovery. At present the investigation of the case is going on. The allegations will be confirmed only after police investigation and further legal process.
