New Delhi. Monsoon has become active in about 97 percent of the country and with this, a period of massive devastation has started in many states. Many people have lost their lives in Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Delhi and Haryana due to incidents like incessant rains, floods, thunderstorms, landslides and building collapses. The Meteorological Department has issued yellow, orange and heavy rain warnings in many states.
Monsoon has now become fully active across the country. Due to continuous rains, flood like conditions have arisen in many states and life has been badly affected. The most serious situation is in Surat, Gujarat, where there is a flood like situation due to torrential rains that have continued for the last three days. So far 19 people have died in rain and flood incidents.
In the national capital Delhi too, there was waterlogging in many areas after heavy rains. One person died after an under-construction building collapsed in Rohini area. On the other hand, rain continues in Haryana for the second consecutive day and the Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for six districts including Gurugram, Faridabad, Panipat and Sonipat.
Uttar Pradesh Rain was recorded in 71 cities. In Prayagraj, two people died due to electrocution while working in the fields, while in Agra the wall of a two-storey shop and a dilapidated house in Mathura collapsed. The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert of heavy rain in 43 districts of the state.
Bihar The Meteorological Department has also issued an orange alert for 30 districts. One farmer died after being hit by lightning in Gopalganj, while four others got burnt.
Maharashtra A major accident occurred when a huge pile of garbage fell on a building under construction amid heavy rains in Pune. Many people were buried under the debris, many of whom have been rescued safely. Meanwhile, a security guard died in a landslide incident in Khandala. In Mumbai, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has identified weak and dangerous trees and advised people to remain alert.
Madhya Pradesh Rain continues in more than 27 districts of Uttar Pradesh. A youth died after being swept away by the strong current of Ruparel river in Khargone district. Rajasthan After torrential rains in Alwar, markets, district hospital and government school premises were flooded, affecting normal life. Expressing the possibility of heavy to very heavy rains in many states in the coming days, the Meteorological Department has appealed to the people to remain alert and follow the advice of the administration.
