After becoming the world champion, Team India, which went on the United Kingdom (UK) tour, is continuously losing. After the embarrassing 0-2 defeat in Ireland, the team captained by Shreyas Iyer has also lagged behind in the 5-match T20 series against England. The first match between India and England could not be played due to rain. England took a 1-0 lead in the second T20 match by winning by 4 wickets.

Team India was expected to make a comeback in the third T20 match played on Wednesday (July 7) in Nottingham but it surrendered. In response to England’s 201 runs, the Indian team was all out for just 76 runs. He had to face a crushing defeat by 125 runs. This was India’s biggest defeat by a margin of runs in the history of T20 cricket. The Indian team has played 5 T20 matches so far on the UK tour but is far from victory. This is the first time that Team India has not got a single win in 5 consecutive matches in T20.

When was the last time this happened?

This is not the first time for the Indian team that it is yearning for victory in T20. Earlier in 2009 and 2021, the team had to face defeat in 4 consecutive matches. However, now the streak without win has reached 5 matches.

Team India is also on the verge of second consecutive series defeat. Earlier this had happened in 2019, when the team had lost two consecutive series. Earlier that year, New Zealand had defeated India 2-1 at home. After this, Australia gave a 2-0 clean sweep to Team India on its own soil.

Indian team forgot to chase runs

The Indian team had lost both the matches while chasing runs in Ireland. He got bowled out in the run chase in Nottingham. That means she has not been able to win three consecutive matches while batting. Earlier this had happened in 2009, when the Indian team had lost 3 consecutive matches while chasing runs.
