Shapoor Zadran Passes Away News: Former legendary Afghanistan fast bowler Shapoor Zadran has passed away. He had been battling a serious illness for a long time and was undergoing treatment in India. The Afghanistan Cricket Board shared the news of his passing on Tuesday (July 7).

The board wrote, "The Afghanistan Cricket Board expresses deep sorrow and grief over the passing of former Afghanistan fast bowler Shapoor Zadran."

The board further wrote, "Shapoor was one of the founding fathers of Afghanistan cricket. His dedication, passion and unwavering commitment played a vital role in the growth and development of the game in our country."

 

He was suffering from a serious illness and was undergoing treatment in India for a long time.

Zadran suffered from hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH), a disease related to the immune system. He had been undergoing treatment in India's NCR region for the past few months. He reportedly breathed his last at a hospital in Greater Noida.

Treatment had been going on since last year.

According to Shapoor's brother, Ghamai Zadran, he had been undergoing treatment since October of last year. On the advice of doctors, he was brought to India for better treatment. About two months ago, in May, star Afghan cricketers Rashid Khan and Mohammad Nabi visited Shapoor at the hospital to inquire about his health.

International career of Shapoor Zadran

Shapoor played 44 ODIs and 36 T20 Internationals in his international career. He took 43 wickets in 44 ODI innings, while also taking 37 wickets in 36 T20 International innings.
