DU Admission 2026: For the first time, Delhi University has opened admissions for its one-year postgraduate program. Under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, this offers a fast-track route to a master's degree for graduates who have completed the university's four-year undergraduate course.
Admissions began on July 5 and are exclusively for Delhi University students who have completed the four-year Undergraduate Curriculum Framework (UGCF) 2022. The university stated that admission to the one-year postgraduate program will be merit-based, requiring a four-year bachelor's degree and fulfillment of specific course prerequisites.
DU also invites applications for the M.Sc. Biotechnology course.
Registration is being conducted via the postgraduate admission portal. This move marks a significant milestone in the university's implementation of NEP 2020. Under the new structure, students who earn the requisite credits during their four-year undergraduate degree become eligible for the one-year master's program instead of the traditional two-year course.
The university also announced admissions for the two-year M.Sc. program in Plant Molecular Biology and Biotechnology for candidates who have qualified for GAT-B 2026.
Over 62,000 students have submitted their college and course preferences.
Meanwhile, the undergraduate admission process under the Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS) is underway, with the university having received 148,407 applications so far. A total of 62,524 candidates have completed Phase II by submitting their program and college preferences. The deadline for application submission is July 11.
Which programs are still open for applications? The university stated that approximately 9,500 admissions for traditional two-year postgraduate programs have been completed so far. The current admission window will close at 11:59 PM on Sunday, while the third allocation list—covering admissions for performance-based programs such as MFA, B.P.Ed, M.P.Ed, and Music—will be released on July 9.
The second allocation list for B.Tech admissions has also been released; shortlisted candidates are required to accept their seats by July 8. The first spot admission round for the five-year integrated law program is currently underway, and candidates can apply until July 7.
