There is news of work for private schools covered under the Right to Education Act. The State Education, School Education Department has extended the last date for new recognition and renewal of recognition for the academic session 2026-27. Now you can apply till 10th July. Instructions have also been issued in this regard.
In fact, earlier the last date for renewal of recognition and application for new recognition of private schools was set as January 20, 2026, but applications could not be made by many private schools till this period. Due to this, the State Education Center has provided this last opportunity to private schools keeping in mind the interest of the students. Private schools will be able to submit their applications online till the stipulated date with late fees.
In the instructions issued by the State Education Center, it has been made clear that there will be no extension in the last date of application after July 10, 2026. According to Rule 11 of the Right to Education Rules, 2011, if a school does not submit the online application on time under the prescribed procedure, then after the prescribed period, its recognition will automatically be considered terminated. Operation of such a school will be considered a violation under Section 18 of the Right to Education Act, 2009 and punitive action can be taken under the relevant provisions.
The State Education Center has directed all the district officers to ensure necessary action to lock the online applications to all the concerned non-government schools of their district within the time limit.
Applications for the third phase for free admission in private schools till July 8
Under the RTE Act, you can apply online for the third phase for free admission in private schools till July 8. In this regard, the State Education Centre, School Education Department has also issued instructions to the Collectors and District Project Coordinators of all the districts.
State Education Center Director Harjinder Singh said that no new registration will be done in the third phase admission process. Only those applicants who had applied in the first phase will be included for the academic session 2026-27. Applicants who had applied in the earlier stages and were found eligible after verification, but were not allotted any school, can update the choice of schools for the third stage.
Apart from this, those applicants who were allotted school in the earlier phase, but did not take admission due to not liking the school or due to other reasons, will also be able to update the choice of schools as per their choice by participating in the third phase process. Let us tell you that under Section 12 (1) (c) of the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act, 2009, eligible children are given free admission in non-government, non-aided private schools, the fees of which are borne by the state government.

- Till 08 July 2026- Applicants update their choices for schools with vacant seats.
- 10 July 2026- Online lottery for the third phase
- 11 to 20 July 2026- Admission process in the concerned school after allotment and information given by the concerned school through RTE mobile app.
