Newcastle United have officially confirmed the arrival of Ivory Coast international Bazoumana Toure.
The 20-year-old winger joins the Magpies from Bundesliga side TSG Hoffenheim in a transfer worth £42 million, following an impressive campaign in Germany.
Toure becomes Newcastle’s second acquisition of the summer transfer window, following the signing of goalkeeper Ewen Jaouen from Guingamp.
After Anthony Gordon’s move to Barcelona, Newcastle were left without an experienced option on the left flank.
The club initially pursued Spanish forward Victor Munoz as Gordon’s replacement, but Liverpool swooped in to secure his signature, prompting Newcastle to shift their focus to Toure.
Last season, Toure emerged as one of the standout left wingers in the Bundesliga, registering five goals and 12 assists, which played a key role in Hoffenheim’s qualification for the UEFA Europa League.
Across Europe’s top seven leagues, Toure ranked above the 60th percentile among wingers for non-penalty goal involvements, successful dribbles, progressive carries, key passes, and accurate crosses.
He made his senior debut for the Ivory Coast national team in October 2025 and later represented his country in both the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations and the 2026 World Cup.
While Manchester United, Arsenal, and Liverpool were also linked with the young winger, none of them made a formal offer, allowing Newcastle to finalise the deal.
Manager Eddie Howe expressed his delight, describing Toure as an “exciting talent” with “a lot of potential yet to be unlocked.”
The Magpies are expected to remain active in the transfer market, particularly in midfield, even after Toure’s arrival.
Sandro Tonali is reportedly close to sealing a move to Tottenham Hotspur, while captain Bruno Guimaraes is also attracting strong interest from Arsenal, who are keen on signing the Brazilian midfielder.
