Gurnoor Brar has moved another significant step closer to India's Test team after delivering the finest first-class performance of his career so far for India A against Sri Lanka A in Galle. The 6ft 5in fast bowler took a match-winning 10-wicket haul as India A romped to a comfortable 10-wicket win and claimed the two-match unofficial Test series 1-0.

The Punjab pacer finished with match figures of 10 for 145, taking four wickets in the first innings and then coming back to take six wickets in the second in a stunning innings. His bounce, pace and accuracy proved way too much for Sri Lanka A as India cruised to a crushing win.

Just a week ago, Brar made his debut for India in the Three-match ODI series versus Afghanistan, claiming six wickets.

Brar Leads India A to Dominant Series Win

India A led by a huge 177 runs after India A scored 542 in their first innings, mainly due to 168 from Sai Sudharsan.

Sri Lanka A required a solid batting performance to keep themselves in the game, but Brar had different ideas. Using his tall frame to induce extra bounce, he took the ball at a good length and was rewarded with regular success as the hosts slumped to 49/4 in the first few overs of the innings.

Ashen Bandara responded with an attacking 87, but Brar came back to dismiss him and end the resilience. The pace bowler finished the sixth wicket as Sri Lanka A were bowled out for 209.

India A needed 33 runs from 50 balls and easily sealed the series by reaching the target without losing a wicket.

Brar's processing of the hard length all match was crucial, as many of his opponents were unable to deal with the steep rise.

A Strong Case for India's Test Squad

India has made it a priority to find quick bowlers who are tall and who can pose some serious questions even on the most diverse of pitches - and Brar has been giving them plenty to think about with his performances in recent times.

The 26-year-old has always had a good first-class record and has found success when playing against Australia A.

With his quick arm action, control and natural bounce, he is a different kind of fast bowler than those we see on the domestic wickets. This versatility can turn out to be of immense use to India as they put together their pace attack for the upcoming Test series.

Although one performance alone is unlikely to get you a spot in the side, Brar is certainly making a case for himself. His career-best 10-wicket performance against Sri Lanka A has established him as one of India's most promising red-ball fast-bowling prospects; he is also gaining the attention of selectors.
