India wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan has accepted that India will have to work on middle-order batting and decision-making after yet another loss in the T20 International series against England.
India have now tasted failure in three successive T20Is, having already suffered a 2-0 series defeat to Ireland before tasting further defeat in the second T20I against England. The first game of the series was abandoned due to rain, with India now left looking for a solution to their problems before the third T20I at Trent Bridge.
Kishan, who made 49 of 40 in Manchester, added that the players are assessing the techniques with which England played the conditions and trying to find solutions together.
'We Are All Looking to Improve'
Kishan, speaking after the game, said that England's better grasp of the home conditions helped them make better decisions during the game.
"100%, I mean, obviously, they’ll have the best choice of bowling, where to pick up, which bowler to put, which batsman to put. They understand the condition better than us."
He was also keen to point out that India is more interested in how they can learn from the loss than in worrying too much about the result.
"But at the same time, we are all looking to improve. We are all looking to understand what these guys are doing against us because they have more idea… Every batter needs to understand, as a team, where we can get those extra 20 runs, whether it’s by scoring boundaries or whether you have to target the gaps. So, these are a few things I feel we’ll talk as a group, we’ll understand, and we’ll get better with time."
India's lack of a strong finishing though down the order has cost us dearly, especially in terms of acceleration in the death overs.

Kishan Backs Youngster Vaibhav Sooryavanshi
Kishan also reflected on the debut of teen batter Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who at 15 years and 99 days made his debut at the international level for India – the youngest-ever Indian. His debut began in promising fashion, with 14 coming off his first 10 balls, including 2 sixes.
Kishan appreciated Vaibhav's talent and promised that seniors would see to it that he would be looked after as he ventured into the arena of international cricket.
He said:
"He has been doing so well for the past two years and has made that difference in coming into the side… I feel when someone you know, you can realize how talented he is, what changes he can bring to the team and what x-factor he gets to himself. So, you just look to take care of him as a senior. There should not be any point of time where he goes into a different mindset."
He added:
"What he has been doing since two years is very difficult for any batter. But he has achieved that greatness at this point of time. So, we just look to be there with him."
India will now seek to level the series when they take on England in the third T20I scheduled for July 7, aiming to finally bring the losing streak to an end with a more consistent batting performance.
