A wildfire near the intersection of Jordan Road and Old Pueblo Road in Fountain, Colorado, has led to mandatory evacuation orders for local residents, as reported by the El Paso County Sheriff's Office. The evacuation affects homes located on the eastern side of Jordan Road, between its northern and southern intersections with Old Pueblo Road, approximately 10 miles south of Colorado Springs.
The evacuation alert was disseminated via the Peak Alerts emergency notification system shortly before 2 PM on Saturday. In their emergency communication, the El Paso County Sheriff's Office instructed residents to evacuate the area without delay, stating: "An EVACUATION ORDER has been issued for houses on the east side of Jordan Rd from the north intersection of Jordan/Old Pueblo to the south intersection of Jordan/Old Pueblo due to a FIRE near Jordan Rd/Old Pueblo Rd. Everyone in this area is ordered to EVACUATE NOW."
The Pikes Peak Regional Office of Emergency Management has advised residents to check its alert website for an evacuation map and to stay updated through local media. Currently, details regarding the fire's size, cause, containment status, or any potential damage to structures remain unavailable. Authorities are actively monitoring the situation as firefighting efforts continue.
