Winger Tyrique George has completed a permanent transfer from Chelsea to Everton following a successful six-month loan period on Merseyside last season.

The Chelsea academy product caught the attention of David Moyes during his time with the Toffees, where he featured regularly and impressed with his work ethic and adaptability.

According to Standard Sport, Everton had been eager to secure George on a full-time basis from the beginning of the summer and have now finalised an £18 million deal with Chelsea, including potential add-ons valued at up to £6 million.

As part of the agreement, Chelsea have inserted a 15 per cent sell-on clause into George’s contract, ensuring they will benefit from any future transfer profits.

Following the completion of club-to-club negotiations, George agreed to personal terms with Everton, sealing his move away from Stamford Bridge.

The 20-year-old joined Everton on loan on the final day of the winter transfer window. During his spell, he made 11 appearances in the Premier League, though he did not register a goal or assist during that period.

Despite the lack of direct goal contributions, George’s performances were well-regarded for their consistency and tactical discipline, leading Everton to pursue a permanent deal.

George’s opportunities at Chelsea became limited last season after the club’s heavy investment in attacking players such as Joao Pedro, Jamie Gittens, Alejandro Garnacho, and Liam Delap. This restricted his first-team minutes and prompted the move to Goodison Park.

Last summer, Chelsea had reached an agreement to sell George to Fulham for £22 million, but the transfer collapsed on Deadline Day, leaving him to continue at Stamford Bridge before his eventual loan exit.

In total, George departs Chelsea after making 37 first-team appearances, during which he scored six goals and provided six assists. His journey with the Blues began in 2014 when he joined the academy as an Under-8 and rose through the youth ranks before making his senior debut in August 2024 in a 2-1 defeat to Servette during a Conference League qualifier.

George also featured twice in Chelsea’s Club World Cup-winning campaign, scoring in a group-stage victory against Esperance Tunis. Additionally, he played 12 matches in the Conference League, contributing three goal involvements as Chelsea went on to claim the title.

Everton supporters will now be eager to see whether the young winger can build on his promising displays and establish himself as a key part of David Moyes’ plans for the upcoming Premier League season.
