The family lamp is extinguished

In a tragic incident that took place on February 28, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei along with many close members of his family said goodbye to the world. According to the report, Khamenei’s elder daughter Bashara al-Khamenei, his son-in-law Misbah al-Hoda Bagheri, Zahra Haddad Adel (wife of Mojtaba Khamenei) and 14-month-old granddaughter Zahra Mohammadi Golpayegani died in the accident. Iran showing its strength and unity

This mourning ceremony, which will last till July 9, is not just a formal farewell, but Iran is presenting it as a display of its religious, political and people-power. The government and religious leadership have appealed to the public to take to the streets. It is estimated that 1.5 to 2 crore people may attend this last farewell. According to Islamic tradition, chemical preservation of the dead body is prohibited, so in exceptional circumstances the body was preserved in low temperatures of cold storage, following Shia tradition.

India also bid last farewell

India was also seen standing with full sensitivity in this national mourning of Iran. An official delegation from the Government of India reached Tehran and paid tribute to the late leader.
