Delhi Free Plant Registration: If you wish to increase greenery in your home, society, or neighborhood, the Delhi government has launched a new initiative for this purpose. Under the 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' (A Tree in Mother's Name) campaign, residents of Delhi can now obtain saplings free of cost. All that is required is registration on the 'Green Drive' portal. Furthermore, if needed, a Forest Department team will come to your location with the sapling and assist in planting it; this largely eliminates the hassle associated with the entire process, from acquiring the plant to planting it.
To avail of this facility, you must first register as an 'Environmental Saver' on the Green Drive portal (greendrive.delhivanmahotsav.in). Once registered, you can book a free sapling from the nearest government nursery. You can also book a slot to participate in the mega plantation drive if you wish.
**Forest Department to Assist with Planting**
A standout feature of this initiative is the 'Vriksh Rath' (Tree Chariot) scheme. Under this, an expert team from the Forest Department will visit your home, residential society, institution, or other suitable location equipped with saplings, necessary tools, and technical expertise to carry out the plantation. This makes the process easier for those who may not know the proper planting techniques.
**Target: Planting 70 Lakh Saplings**
A target has been set to plant 70 lakh (7 million) saplings across the capital. All Delhi residents are urged to participate enthusiastically to ensure this campaign reaches as many people as possible. If you want to enhance the greenery around your home or neighborhood, this initiative offers a great opportunity. A single sapling not only helps improve the environment but also proves to be a small yet significant step toward creating a cleaner and better atmosphere for future generations.
