New Delhi: Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has been admitted to Jupiter Hospital in Thane after suffering from a mild fever, fatigue, and body aches since Friday.

Doctors advised the hospitalisation as a precautionary measure to allow Shinde to undergo a series of routine medical check-ups. Inside sources have confirmed that his condition remains stable, and a dedicated team of medical professionals is keeping him under continuous observation.

The Shiv Sena leader, who plays a critical role in the state’s ruling Mahayuti alliance, has had an exceptionally demanding schedule over the last few weeks. He has been constantly travelling for government meetings, public events, and party programmes throughout Maharashtra. Due to his current health issues, all of his scheduled public engagements for the day have been cancelled, though party insiders stressed there is no cause for concern.

Impact of recent political activities

His grueling routine has been closely linked to recent fast-moving political developments in the state. Shinde was heavily involved in the Shiv Sena’s high-profile “Operation Tiger” initiative, which saw six Members of Parliament from the Uddhav Thackeray faction and Mumbai Legislative Council member Sachin Ahir switch over to his side.

To manage these developments, Shinde had also made multiple frequent trips to New Delhi, which likely added to his physical exhaustion.

This isn’t the first time the leader has faced health issues from his intense workload. In December 2024, Shinde was admitted to the same Thane facility following an exhaustive election campaign that left him with a fever, weakness, and a throat infection. At the time, his party similarly classified it as a routine check-up before he was safely discharged after medical evaluation.
