Leicester's promising winger Jeremy Monga has attracted significant transfer attention from several Premier League clubs this summer.
Manchester City have now entered the race to sign the 16-year-old Leicester City starlet, joining Arsenal in the pursuit of the highly rated youngster.
Reports from last month indicated that Arsenal were close to finalising an agreement worth around £10 million for Monga. However, their prospects of completing the deal have been complicated by renewed interest from City.
According to BBC Sport, Manchester City have maintained a long-standing admiration for Monga and have made fresh inquiries about his availability this week.
Among all the clubs vying for his signature, Arsenal’s negotiations were reportedly the most advanced, though Brentford have also expressed interest. Nevertheless, City are believed to be considering a swift move to secure the teenager’s signature. Renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano has reported that City’s new head coach, Enzo Maresca, is personally involved in discussions as the club attempts to convince Monga to join their ranks.
Monga featured regularly for Leicester’s first team last season as the club suffered relegation from the Championship. Currently on scholarship terms, he is set to sign his first professional contract with Leicester on July 10.
Turning 17 later this month, Monga holds the distinction of being the third-youngest player ever to appear in the Premier League, behind Arsenal’s Max Dowman and Ethan Nwaneri. He made his debut at the tender age of 15, coming on in a 3-0 defeat to Newcastle United.
Born in Coventry, Monga is a seasoned England youth international and also qualifies to represent Zambia. During the 2025/26 season, he became a regular feature in Leicester’s senior squad, registering one goal and two assists across 27 Championship appearances.
His only goal of the campaign, scored against Preston North End, etched his name in the club’s record books as Leicester’s youngest-ever goalscorer.
Arsenal are expected to be active in the summer transfer window, with Morgan Rogers identified as a key target. The Gunners are also monitoring Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes and Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola as potential additions to Mikel Arteta’s squad.
