Delhi EV Policy 2026: Complete this step within 30 days of receiving the RC, or you will lose the EV subsidy

Delhi EV Subsidy: Delhi's new EV Policy-2026 has come into effect. To avail of the subsidy on the purchase of an electric vehicle, it is mandatory to apply online within 30 days of the issuance of the Registration Certificate (RC).

Delhi EV Policy 2026: If you are planning to buy a new electric vehicle in Delhi, this news is crucial for you. The new Delhi Electric Vehicle (EV) Policy-2026 has come into force in the capital today. The government aims to make Delhi a pollution-free city by March 31, 2030. Under this new policy, purchasing electric two-wheelers, three-wheelers, or four-wheelers will entitle you to significant relief in the form of subsidies and tax benefits.

However, a major change has also been introduced. You will not receive the subsidy automatically upon purchasing an EV; instead, you must apply via the government's online portal within 30 days of the RC being issued. Failure to apply within this timeframe means you will not receive the subsidy benefit.

How will the subsidy be credited to your account?

  • After purchasing the electric vehicle, you must apply online through the government portal.
  • Once approved by the Transport Department, the subsidy will be credited directly to your bank account.
  • The subsidy will only be credited to an account linked to your Aadhaar.
  • The payment will be processed via the Central Government's PFMS system.

What is the subsidy amount for two-wheelers?

  • A subsidy of up to ₹30,000 will be available for purchasing an e-scooter or e-bike in the first year.
  • The subsidy will decrease to ₹20,000 in the second year.
  • A subsidy of ₹10,000 will be available in the third year.
  • Additionally, electric cars with an ex-showroom price of up to ₹30 lakh in Delhi will be exempt from 100% road tax and registration fees.

Live information on charging stations

The government will launch a real-time EV dashboard for EV users. You will be able to check the availability of nearby charging stations right on your mobile.
Information such as charging station locations, available charging points, charging capacity, and estimated waiting times will be available on a single platform.
