Shamli, 2 July. The Delhi-Dehradun Expressway, built at a cost of about Rs 12 thousand crore, could not withstand the very first rain and at some places potholes have emerged due to road subsidence. In this sequence, a passenger’s car got damaged on the highway, who made a video of this incident and complained to the authorities. Interestingly, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had inaugurated this expressway on April 14 itself.
This case pertains to the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway near Kheda Mastan village located on the Meerut-Karnal Highway, where after the rain, the main road suddenly caved in from the middle, due to which the car of a passenger passing by got stuck and got damaged. The victim made a video of the incident and made it viral on social media and complained to the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) officials through the X handle.
Sunken road due to wrong drainage system
The main reason for the collapse of the expressway is believed to be the wrong drainage system. It is being told that the drain made for the flow of water is not as per the standards. The formality was completed by pouring concrete where a concrete linter drain was supposed to be built.
Now due to the pressure of water falling down from the highway during heavy rains, the drain got cut and this cut gradually reached the main highway, causing the road to sink from the middle. At present, no NHAI official is refraining from saying anything on this serious negligence. However, after the complaint, the repair work of the road has been done.
Rakesh Tikait raised questions on the quality of construction work
Meanwhile, Rakesh Tikait, national spokesperson of Bharatiya Kisan Union in Baghpat, has raised questions about the potholes on Delhi-Dehradun Expressway and other national highways. He said that the quality was not tested properly during construction, due to which the new roads have also started deteriorating. He also attacked CM Yogi and said that he will not become the Chief Minister for the third time. Preparations are being made to send him into central politics by contesting elections from UP.
