Bengaluru. There was panic among security agencies in Bengaluru on Thursday after receiving a bomb threat to blow up the headquarters of the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO). As soon as the threatening email was received, the police, bomb disposal squad and dog squad cordoned off the entire premises and launched an intensive search operation. However, no suspicious object was found during investigation and the threat was later proved to be completely fake.
Headquarters was evacuated as soon as the email was received-
According to police, immediately after receiving the threat, police, dog squad and Bomb Disposal and Bomb Detection Squad (BDDS) reached ISRO headquarters. As a precautionary measure, all employees present in the building were evacuated and the entire premises was thoroughly searched.
A senior police officer said that no explosive or suspicious item was found during the search. After completion of the investigation, the security agencies declared the email to be fake.
Search continues for the person sending the email-
Police said that Sanjaynagar police station is investigating the case. The digital evidence is being examined to identify the sender of the email and ascertain its motive.

Earlier on June 29, fake emails were sent threatening to bomb several government institutions and an Air India flight. In this case, Delhi Police had arrested 36-year-old Nishant Tyagi, resident of Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh.
The accused had threatened to bomb several sensitive institutions including the National Investigation Agency (NIA), ISRO, Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL), Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO), Ministry of Civil Aviation and an Air India flight from New Delhi to New York. During investigation, all the emails were found to be fake.
Police reached the accused through technical investigation-
The police analyzed the two mail accounts that sent the emails through digital trail and technical surveillance. During the investigation, on the basis of a mobile number linked to the accounts, the police reached Sanyog Nagar, Ghaziabad on June 30 and detained the accused.
Treatment of mental illness since 2008-
Preliminary investigation revealed that the accused was undergoing treatment for mental illness since 2008. The family also confirmed his long medical history. According to the police, no explosive or suspicious material was recovered from his house. At present, the investigation into the intention and circumstances behind sending the email is ongoing.
