- 03403 Maldah Town-Puri Special will run a total of two trains. On July 14 and 22, it will depart from Maldah Town Station at 1:10 PM. The next day the train will reach Puri at 5:30 AM.
- On return route 03404 Puri-Maldah Town Special will run on 17th and 25th July. The train will leave Puri station at 6 pm. It will reach Maldah station at 9.20 am the next day.
- The train will halt at New Farakka, Pakur, Rampurhat, Saithia, Bolpur, Shantiniketan, Burdwan, Dankuni, Andul, Kharagpur, Baleshwar, Bhadrak, Jajpur-Keonjhar Road, Cuttack, Bhubaneswar and Khurda stations en route. As a result, passengers of Malda and other districts will benefit.
Malda Division DRM Manishkumar Gupta said, “A special train is being run for the convenience of devotees and tourists on the occasion of Rath Yatra. The train is equipped with general second class, sleeper class and AC coaches.” However, when the ticket booking will start, nothing has been announced yet. It should be noted that the three chariots of Jagannath, Subhadra, Balaram in Puri have different names in Rath Yatra. Jagannath’s chariot is called Nandighosa, Balarama’s chariot is called Taldhvaja, Subhadra’s chariot is called Darpadalan. Not only the names but also the number of wheels of the three chariots are not the same. For example, the number of wheels of Jagannath’s chariot is 16, the number of wheels of Balaram’s chariot is 14, the number of wheels of Subhadra’s chariot is 12.
Even, each chariot has a different color. Jagannath’s chariot is painted red-yellow keeping in mind the incarnation of Vishnu. These two colors are actually Vishnu’s favorite colors. The color of Balaram’s chariot is red-green. On the other hand, the colors of Subhadra’s chariot are red and black.
The horses used in the three chariots have different names. The four horses of Jagannath’s chariot are Shankha, Balhaka, Shweta, Haridaswa. Balaram’s four horses are named Aktesh, Ghora, Lushsharma, Swarnava. Subhadra’s four horses are named Ruchika, Mochika, Jita and Aparajit. Not only different names, but also different colors of horses. Jagannath’s chariot uses white horses, Balaram’s chariot uses black horses. In the case of Subhadra’s horse, the horse of red color is used. Jagannath, Balarama, Subhadra are not alone in the Rath Yatra. Other gods and goddesses also live with them as companions. For example, Madanamohan lives with Jagannath, Ramakrishna lives with Balarama, Sudarshana lives with Subhadra.
