Under the Vikas Bharat Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (VB-G Ram Ji), implemented in the state from July 1, workers will now get higher wages and longer employment hours than before.
Vikas Bharat Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (VB-Ji Ram Ji) has been implemented in the state. Under the new scheme, the wage rate given to workers in Uttarakhand was increased by Rs 48. Now workers will get wages of Rs 300 per day.
The central government has implemented VB Ji Ram Ji Yojana in place of MNREGA in the entire country from July 1. Under this, this scheme was started in Uttarakhand. The workers who get employment in the development works done through the scheme have got the gift of increase in wages.
The wage rate under MNREGA scheme was Rs 252 per day. Now in the new scheme it has been increased to Rs 300. Earlier there was a guarantee of employment for 100 days. Under the new scheme, workers will get 125 days of work in the entire year. Along with rural livelihood works, water conservation and disaster relief works can also be carried out.
6.73 lakh active job card holders in the state
Under the previous MNREGA scheme, job cards were issued to 10 lakh people in the state. But only 6.73 lakh job card holders are active in it. In the financial year 2025-26, till the month of December, 4.42 lakh people sought work and 3.52 lakh were given work under the scheme.
