Initiative to make Delhi green and clean, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta launches ‘Green Drive Portal’

The government has started a new digital initiative towards making Delhi green and clean. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta launched the ‘Green Drive Portal’ (greendrive.delhivanmahotsav.in) on Wednesday. On this occasion, a special program was organized by the Environment, Forest and Wildlife Department of Delhi Government. According to the government, this portal is an important digital initiative towards giving the upcoming ‘Ridge Forest Revival Program’ and ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign the character of a people’s movement. Through this, the aim has been set to ensure participation of more and more people and conduct tree plantation campaigns effectively. During the program, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta appealed to the people of Delhi to actively participate in this campaign to protect the environment and increase greenery.

The Chief Minister said that ‘Green Drive Portal’ is a powerful digital medium to promote public participation. Through this, any citizen can now become a part of this environmental campaign sitting at home from their mobile or computer. He said that four major services have been made available on the portal for the convenience of the citizens and the benefits of all these services will be completely free. The government aims to connect more and more people with tree plantation and environmental protection, so as to make the capital more green and clean. The Chief Minister said that this digital initiative will play an important role in turning the ‘Ridge Forest Revival Programme’ and ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign into a mass movement and participation of every citizen will be important in this.

4 major free services will be available on Green Drive portal

The Chief Minister said that through the Green Drive portal, four major services have been made available to connect citizens with environmental protection, the benefits of which will be completely free.

Plantation Slot Booking: Citizens can book slots for tree plantation online by choosing the place and time as per their convenience.

‘Tree Chariot’ Feature: If any citizen, school, office, RWA or residential society has sufficient space for plantation, Delhi Government will deliver the saplings directly to their premises free of cost.

Nursery Locator: With the help of this feature, people will be able to know the exact location of their nearest government nursery and will be able to get saplings from there for free.

Environment Savior: Through this facility, every citizen of Delhi will be able to make a permanent contribution to environmental protection as a responsible ‘Green Warrior’ by directly connecting with the environmental campaigns of the government.

The Chief Minister said that ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ is not just a government campaign, but a people’s campaign of every citizen of Delhi. He appealed to all the people to take active participation in this initiative and plant at least one tree in honor of their mother. Every tree planted today will gift clean air, green environment and better environment to the coming generations. He said that every step taken towards environmental protection will play an important role in making the future of Delhi safer and greener.

Highlights of ‘Ridge Forest Restoration Programme’

Under the Delhi Government’s ‘Ridge Forest Revival Programme’, several important initiatives will be taken to increase green cover and strengthen environmental protection in the capital. Key Features of the Program

Union Home Minister Amit Shah will formally launch the ‘Ridge Forest Revival Programme’ this month. During the program he will also plant saplings at various places in the ridge area from north to south.

Target of 70 lakh plants: Under the campaign, a target has been set to plant 70 lakh saplings across Delhi, so that the green area is expanded and environmental protection is promoted.

Promote clean transportation: During the event, 300 new electric buses and buses running on new interstate routes will also be flagged off, encouraging eco-friendly transportation.

Forest development in scientific manner: A three-tier forest structure will be developed to strengthen the biodiversity, carbon absorption capacity and soil conservation of the ridge area. Under this, saplings of native and long-lived species of Delhi like Peepal, Banyan, Gular, Neem, Arjun and Jamun will be planted, so that the local ecosystem can be strengthened.
