The Bucks plan to hire former NBA point guard T.J. Ford as part of Taylor Jenkins‘ coaching staff, reports Kelly Iko of Yahoo Sports .
Milwaukee selected Ford with the eighth overall pick in the 2003 draft and he spent three seasons with the team at the start of his nine-year career. The former Texas standout missed the entire 2004/05 campaign after due to a spinal cord injury he sustained near the end of his rookie season. He retired in 2012.
Here’s more on the Bucks:
- Steve Megargee of The Associated Press relays some of the highlights from Thursday’s press conference introducing lottery picks Brayden Burries and Nate Ament. Milwaukee selected Burries with the 10th pick and added Ament at No. 13 as part of the agreed upon trade that will send Giannis Antetokounmpo to Miami. “They fit as people,” general manager Jon Horst said. “I think you can see the synergy here already. There’s a consistent theme in what we’ve targeted — the competitiveness, the character, the IQ of an athlete.”
- 2025 first-round pick Kaspars Jakucionisone of the many pieces the Bucks are acquiring in that blockbuster deal, recently discussed what it was like to be traded, according to BasketNews. “Like I said, the first day was tough because it was the first time in my basketball career that something like this happened to me, being traded without it being my decision,” the former Heat guard said. “But I don’t think it’s a bad thing. It’s a young organization with a lot of young players, so I think it will be a good situation for me.”
- Australian forward Luke Travers will play for the Bucks’ Summer League team, sources tell Olgun Uluc of ESPN. A former second-round pick (56th overall in 2022), Travers spent his rookie season (2024/25) on a two-way deal with Cleveland. The 24-year-old spent most of last season on another two-way contract with the Cavs, who waived him in February.
