In the heart of the midlands is a beautiful little city that often flies under the radar when it comes to places to visit. Home to a stunning park, a quaint feel and an array of independent shops, it simply must be added to your list to visit this summer.
Lichfield has been named as the “most English place in the country”. The cathedral city in Staffordshire, is as geographically “middle England” as possible – and it’s got plenty to offer day-trippers. The city is just 90 minutes away from London and has been called “underrated”.

According to Tripadvisor, there has been a cathedral in Lichfield for over 1300 years and its story is one “bursting” with history, art, culture and life.
It says if you’re looking for rich heritage, ancient artefacts, and stunning architecture then Lichfield Cathedral is the place to visit.
Alongside this, for history lovers, Lichfield also boasts several Georgian museums, including Dr Johnson’s birthplace and Erasmus Darwin’s House.
Another highlight of the city is Beacon Park which provides visitors with a peaceful place to enjoy some greenery.
One person on Tripadvisor said: “We took a little jaunt out here today. It’s local and there’s plenty of activity for the children.
“It looks like money has been spent on the area recently as it’s further developed which is wonderful to see. We’ll be back.”
For the perfect summer day trip, Lichfield is a must-visit this summer.
