Jude Bellingham praised his England teammate Harry Kane, calling him the “best England player of all time” after the Bayern Munich striker became the nation’s all-time top World Cup goal scorer.
Bellingham provided the assist for Kane’s header that sealed England’s second goal in their 2-0 victory over Panama, ensuring Thomas Tuchel’s side advanced to the knockout stage of the World Cup as group winners.
Kane’s strike marked his 11th World Cup goal, surpassing Gary Lineker’s previous record of ten.
Speaking after the match, Bellingham, who also netted England’s opening goal, reflected on his partnership with Kane: “I think I’ve built a really strong connection with Harry over the last four or five years, especially after Qatar, you know, playing so close together.”
He added, “It’s an honour to play alongside him. For me, he’s the best England player of all time. He’s the one who has delivered more than anyone, more than any other England player.”
“Right now, he’s performing at an unbelievable level. You never doubt him—whether he’s on the ball or not, you always know he’s going to make an impact, and he did it again today.”
England will now meet DR Congo in the round of 32 after topping their group, a feat Bellingham described as a key milestone.
“Before the tournament began, we set out our goals to take things step by step,” he explained. “We’ve achieved our first target, which was to win the group.”
He continued, “Today’s win was crucial because we wanted to maintain control over our path and decide where and when we play.”
