Filmmaker Rohit Shetty has once again drawn public attention following reports of a new security-related concern. The development comes months after an earlier incident involving firing near his residence in Mumbai. Authorities are now investigating the latest allegations linked to an extortion attempt.

Alleged extortion demand being examined

According to IANS reports, an audio message allegedly demanding a large sum of money from the filmmaker was circulated. The warning reportedly included serious consequences if the demand was not fulfilled. Officials are currently verifying the authenticity of the clip and the individuals involved.

Throwback interview on family bond

Amid the ongoing situation, an old interview of Rohit Shetty resurfaced on social media, where he spoke about his close family ties and their protective nature. He highlighted how his sister Mehek Shetty shares a strong emotional bond with him and has always been highly protective of him in personal and public life. Mehek said in the interview with Hindustan Times, “I don’t like anyone talking bad about my brother and feel like thrashing them if they do. I can do anything for Rohit, who is like my father and guardian angel and whatever I am because of him.”

Rohit Shetty on family’s aggressive humour

In the same conversation, Rohit Shetty described his family’s nature in a light-hearted way, linking it to larger-than-life action film characters. He suggested that their behaviour often reflects the intensity seen in mainstream Hindi cinema heroes. He said, “Everyone in my family is like Sunny Deol from Gadar, always ready to uproot a hand pump.”

About the extortion attempt case

Coming to the present, initial reports suggest the matter surfaced after members of Rohit Shetty’s staff reportedly came across an audio recording of around 90 seconds. Investigators suspect that the voice in the clip may be linked to an individual associated with an organised crime network. Police teams have begun examining digital evidence as part of the probe.

Meanwhile, authorities continue to investigate the alleged threat and examine the source of the audio recording. Security around the filmmaker has reportedly been reviewed as a precautionary measure following the incident.

On the work front, Rohit Shetty's previous project was 'Singham Again'.
