New Delhi . If you are also using a Samsung smartphone, then be alert. Crores of Samsung customers are at risk of hacking. The government itself has warned people about the serious security flaw. According to a report, the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In), the government’s cybersecurity agency, has issued a high-severity alert regarding a security flaw in Samsung’s Knox security framework. Samsung Knox is a security platform built into Galaxy smartphones and tablets that helps protect devices, apps, and sensitive data from cyber threats.
Phones running on this version are in danger
According to the advisory, this security flaw affects Samsung devices running Android 13, Android 14, Android 15, and Android 16 versions released before the January 2026 security maintenance release (SMR Jan-2026 Release 1). The security flaw is being caused by a bug in a Samsung Knox component called the PROCA driver.
The report published on CERT-In’s website states that if this flaw is exploited, hackers can use it to run malicious code, bypass security protections or gain unauthorized access to the phone. That means you can hijack the phone and take complete control of it.

The government called the flaw ‘extreme’
The government’s cyber security agency has placed this problem in the ‘high severity’ category and said that it can lead to problems like tampering with the phone, bypassing the security system and unauthorized access to data.
Although local access to the targeted device is required to exploit this vulnerability, users are still advised to install the latest security updates as soon as possible.
However, Samsung has not publicly disclosed how many users or devices may be affected by this flaw worldwide or in India.
Do this work immediately to stay safe
If you don’t want hackers to gain access to your device, steal your personal information, or compromise your phone’s security, you should make sure that your phone is running on the latest software version. Users can check for the update by going to Settings -> Software Update -> Download & Install on their Galaxy smartphones.
