US President Donald Trump said that Iran is giving huge concessions in talks with America. The US President expressed confidence that the talks will move forward and warned that the US is ready to use security forces if necessary.
During a conversation with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte at the White House on Wednesday (local time) before and after the meeting at the Capitol, Trump spoke positively to the media about diplomacy with Tehran. However, he repeatedly stressed that the military option still existed.
Before a lunch meeting with Republican lawmakers, Trump said, ‘The war is going very well. As you know, we are winning. Iran is giving huge concessions. Let’s see what happens, but it’s been very strong and it’s going very well.
After the meeting, the US President said that Tehran continues to meet America’s demands. He said, ‘Iran is behaving very well. They are obeying everything I say and they will have to obey. Otherwise, we’ll just go back and do what we have to do.’
During the Oval Office meeting with Rutte, Trump again expressed confidence about talks, saying, ‘Our talks with Iran are going very well.’ Regarding voting on Iran war resolution in Congress, Donald Trump said that such action gives a confusing and unnecessary message to Tehran. According to him, it has no practical significance, but Iran may look at it from a different perspective.
Trump also ruled out any future agreement that would allow Iran to impose charges on international shipping through the Strait of Hormuz. He said, ‘This will not be acceptable to me. I will not allow this.
The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world’s most vital energy chokepoints. Rutte fully supported Trump’s Iran policy and said that its main objective is to prevent Tehran from acquiring nuclear weapons. Rutte said, ‘I want to make it really clear how important what you are doing in Iran is. Iran having nuclear capability would be a threat to the entire world.
He described Iran as a country that is spreading anarchy and terrorism and said that it was very close to acquiring nuclear capability. Rutte said, ‘Iran having a nuclear capability would be a threat to the entire world, especially to the region, Israel and Europe, but also to the rest of the world. This issue is not limited to regional security only. This is to security.
When President Trump was also asked about the investigation into the attack on a school in Minab, he said, ‘I don’t know if they will ever solve that problem, whose fault it was, because missiles were being fired everywhere.’ Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said the Pentagon is taking this investigation very seriously and its results will be released at an appropriate time.
