What is the Role of an Agriculture Technical Assistant?
According to officials from the Agriculture Department, these Technical Assistants will work directly in rural areas. These facilitators will connect directly with farmers and raise awareness about new and modern farming techniques. They will be responsible for ensuring that welfare schemes from both the central and state governments—such as the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi, Soil Health Card, and Crop Insurance Scheme—reach farmers, regardless of the size of their landholdings. Additionally, farmers will be provided with information on the proper use of improved seeds, organic fertilizers, and pesticides, which will help increase crop yields and reduce farming costs.
