Chelsea are reportedly open to selling Trevoh Chalobah this summer, with Italian outfit Como among several Champions League clubs showing interest in the defender. Although the academy graduate featured regularly last season, the club no longer considers him untouchable as they look to reshape their defence under new management.

Uncertainty surrounds Chalobah’s future at Stamford Bridge, as he enters the final two years of his existing contract, which includes an option for a one-year extension. There have been no signs of talks regarding a fresh deal, prompting clubs across Europe — including several Champions League teams — to take notice of his situation.

The 26-year-old featured 47 times across all competitions last season. Despite his consistent performances, the Chelsea board no longer view the central defender as a key player for the upcoming campaign, according to reports from Football London.

Como, who have secured a Champions League spot under the management of Cesc Fabregas, are among the clubs interested in bringing Chalobah to Italy. However, the Serie A side have not yet advanced discussions, as they carefully plan their summer transfer activity.

Other Champions League contenders are also keeping a close eye on Chalobah’s status, making the competition for his signature increasingly intense as the summer transfer window unfolds.

Incoming manager Xabi Alonso has already started working closely with Chelsea’s sporting directors to strengthen the defensive line. His main objective is to recruit a new first-choice centre-back who can form a long-term partnership with Levi Colwill. The Blues have been preparing for this move since January, identifying a new defensive signing as a major priority for the 2026/27 season.

Although Chalobah has proven his versatility and reliability, Alonso and the club’s recruitment team are seeking a different profile to solidify the backline. This new strategic direction has relegated Chalobah to a secondary role in their long-term vision, making a departure this summer increasingly likely.

In contrast, Chelsea have decided to reject multiple offers for young defender Josh Acheampong, choosing to retain him at Stamford Bridge. The 20-year-old academy graduate has been declared completely untouchable by the club hierarchy, ensuring his future remains secure in London despite interest from several Premier League clubs.

The club’s top management have taken a firm stance on Acheampong’s situation, blocking any potential moves away this summer. Despite limited game time — with only 17 Premier League appearances last season, nine of which came from the bench — Acheampong logged 663 minutes and contributed one goal. Chelsea regard his developing defensive skills as a vital long-term asset for the team’s future plans.
