New Delhi: The Cockroach Janata Party’s ongoing protest at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar entered its third consecutive day on Monday, with party founder Abhijeet Dipke and his supporters refusing to back down from their demands over the NEET-UG 2026 controversy.

Protesters Demand Probe and Minister’s Resignation

The protesters are demanding a high-level impartial investigation into the alleged NEET-UG paper leak, resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, justice for affected students, compensation for families of students who allegedly died by suicide, and major reforms in the competitive examination system.

Sit-In Began After Delhi Police Permission

The sit-in protest began on June 20 after permission was granted by the Delhi Police. A large number of students, youth and parents joined the demonstration on the first day, holding placards and raising slogans against alleged irregularities in the exam process. Protesters were also seen banging plates and spoons as a symbolic act of protest.

Protest Continued Beyond Permitted Time

As the permitted time for the demonstration ended in the evening, police asked the protesters to vacate the site. However, Abhijeet Dipke refused to call off the agitation and announced that the protest would continue until the Education Minister stepped down.

Supporters Stayed Overnight at Jantar Mantar

Supporters remained at Jantar Mantar through the night. Dipke alleged that electricity and water supply at the protest site were briefly disrupted, though the services were later restored. Volunteers arranged food and langar for those staying at the venue.

Protest Continues Amid Re-NEET Examination

On the second day, June 21, the protest continued amid the re-NEET examination. Before the exam began, Dipke released a video message urging students and parents to join the protest after appearing for the exam. The demonstration resumed around 9 am, with protesters raising slogans demanding accountability and reforms.

Some students and parents reached Jantar Mantar after the exam ended, though the turnout was lower than expected. Despite this, the protesters maintained that the movement would continue until their demands were accepted.

Candlelight March Announced on Day Three

On June 22, the agitation entered its third day. Abhijeet Dipke announced a candlelight march in the evening to highlight the NEET issue and express solidarity with students affected by exam- stress and alleged irregularities.

Heated Exchanges Reported Between Police and Protesters

Several heated exchanges between police and protesters were reported during the day. Dipke also alleged that some people coming to Jantar Mantar were asked to show Aadhaar cards. Questioning the move, he said people should not be required to show identity proof merely to visit a protest site.

Police, meanwhile, continued efforts to maintain law and order and ensure compliance with protest regulations.

CJP’s Key Demands

CJP’s key demands include an impartial probe into the alleged paper leak, resignation of the Union Education Minister, justice and compensation for affected families, and structural reforms in NEET and other competitive examinations to prevent future controversies.

The Cockroach Janata Party, which began as a satirical social media campaign, has gradually emerged as an organized protest platform.
