Who can apply?
To apply, students must meet all the prescribed eligibility criteria. The essential conditions are as follows:
The student must be studying in Class 5 during the 2026-27 session.
Must be a bona fide resident of the district where admission to the Navodaya Vidyalaya is sought.
Must have studied Classes 3, 4, and 5 in a recognized school.
Date of birth must be between May 1, 2015, and July 31, 2017 (both dates inclusive).
Students who have already passed Class 5 or are repeating Class 5 cannot apply.
Each student can appear for the selection test only once. What is the new rule regarding the district this time?

Additionally, securing minimum qualifying marks in each section is mandatory.

Mental Ability and Environmental Studies: 14 marks
Arithmetic: 7 marks
Language: 7 marks
Candidates must use only a blue or black ballpoint pen on the OMR sheet. The use of a pencil is strictly prohibited. Furthermore, during the exam, candidates must ensure that the serial numbers on the question booklet and the OMR sheet match. If the numbers differ, the invigilator must be informed immediately.
How will seat reservations be allocated?
Reservations in Navodaya Vidyalayas will be implemented in accordance with Central Government rules.
For students from rural areas
At least 75% of the seats in each district will be reserved for students from rural areas.
Students from both rural and urban areas will be eligible for admission to the remaining 25% of seats based on merit.

Other Backward Classes (OBC)
All these categories will receive reservation as per Central Government rules. A 27% reservation will apply for the Central OBC list.
Other reservations
At least one-third (33%) of the total seats will be reserved for female students. Candidates with disabilities will also receive the benefit of reservation in accordance with the prescribed rules.
