Navodaya Vidyalaya Class 6 Admission 2027: The Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS) has released the official notification and prospectus for the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Selection Test (JNVST 2027) for the 2027-28 academic session. Students seeking admission to Class 6 can now apply online. The deadline for applications is set for July 31, 2026.

When will the Navodaya Vidyalaya exam be held?
An entrance exam is conducted for admission to Class 6 in Navodaya Vidyalayas. Admission is granted only to students who pass the exam and secure a place on the merit list. This time, the selection test will be held on November 28, 2026, while the results are expected to be declared by the end of March 2027.

Who can apply?
To apply, students must meet all the prescribed eligibility criteria. The essential conditions are as follows:

The student must be studying in Class 5 during the 2026-27 session.
Must be a bona fide resident of the district where admission to the Navodaya Vidyalaya is sought.
Must have studied Classes 3, 4, and 5 in a recognized school.
Date of birth must be between May 1, 2015, and July 31, 2017 (both dates inclusive).
Students who have already passed Class 5 or are repeating Class 5 cannot apply.
Each student can appear for the selection test only once. What is the new rule regarding the district this time?

A student can apply only to the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya in their home district.
If a student attends a school in a neighboring district, that school must be located within a 10-kilometer radius of their home.

What will the exam pattern be like?
The exam will be OMR-based. It will consist of a total of 80 objective-type questions, carrying a total of 100 marks.

Additionally, securing minimum qualifying marks in each section is mandatory.

These are as follows:

Mental Ability and Environmental Studies: 14 marks
Arithmetic: 7 marks
Language: 7 marks

Candidates must use only a blue or black ballpoint pen on the OMR sheet. The use of a pencil is strictly prohibited. Furthermore, during the exam, candidates must ensure that the serial numbers on the question booklet and the OMR sheet match. If the numbers differ, the invigilator must be informed immediately.

How will seat reservations be allocated?
Reservations in Navodaya Vidyalayas will be implemented in accordance with Central Government rules.

For students from rural areas

At least 75% of the seats in each district will be reserved for students from rural areas.
Students from both rural and urban areas will be eligible for admission to the remaining 25% of seats based on merit.

Scheduled Tribe (ST)
Other Backward Classes (OBC)
All these categories will receive reservation as per Central Government rules. A 27% reservation will apply for the Central OBC list.

Other reservations

At least one-third (33%) of the total seats will be reserved for female students. Candidates with disabilities will also receive the benefit of reservation in accordance with the prescribed rules.
