Bowler Shreyanka Patil suffered an ankle injury while fielding during India's ICC Women's T20 World Cup match against the Netherlands on June 17, 2026, and unfortunately, she has been ruled out for the rest of the tournament.
In light of this, the Event Technical Committee of the ICC Women's T20 World Cup has given the green light for her replacement. The Women's Selection Committee has decided to bring leg spinner Prema Rawat into India's squad for the remainder of the World Cup.
Prema, who has previously played for India A Women, had an impressive run, taking eight wickets in five matches during India's successful campaign in the Women's Asia Cup Rising Stars tournament. She also stood out as the joint-leading wicket-taker on India A's tour of Australia last year, where she claimed seven wickets in just three matches.
