On Thursday, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav took a detailed review meeting of the work and other activities of the Science and Technology Department at the CM House in Bhopal. During this, he said, “Science and technology are the cornerstone of the future economy. There is immense potential for investment in this sector in the state. We have to make the state a strong center of knowledge and technology by promoting innovation, research and technological development.”
The Chief Minister has also directed the officials to make coordinated and effective efforts to attract maximum investment in the science and technology sector. Apart from this, it has also been asked to get the investment projects off the ground as soon as possible. CM Yadav has also asked the officials to make concrete efforts to make a gift city in Bhopal, the capital of Madhya Pradesh, on the lines of Gujarat.
CM said, “Medi City, Science City and Engineering College are also being prepared in Ujjain. Therefore, a Center of Excellence for Medical, Science and Technical Education should be established here. For this, coordination will also be done with the Central Government.”
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav has emphasized on investment promotion to take Madhya Pradesh forward in the field of science and innovation. He reviewed the special action plan prepared by the department to attract major investment in the science and technology sector. Also gave instructions to implement it in a time bound manner.
These instructions were also given to the officers
Instructions were also given to departmental officers to give priority to innovation based projects and maintain continuous communication with investors. Various schemes of the department, progress reports and upcoming work plans were also discussed in the meeting. Instructions have been given to ensure better coordination among all the concerned departments to realize new possibilities in the field of science and technology in the state. Instructions have been given to fill the posts of necessary human resources in the department and to further strengthen Rajiv Gandhi Technological University keeping in mind the increasing needs.
Important proposal sent to the center
In the meeting, Additional Chief Secretary Urban Development and Housing and Science and Technology Sanjay Dubey informed that the proposal for setting up DeepTech Research Park in Ujjain has been sent to the Central Government. Now, under this proposal, a new action plan will be prepared and a revised proposal will be sent for the establishment of a Center of Excellence in Ujjain. This center will be built at a cost of about Rs 400 crore. DeepTech Research Park will also be a part of this Center of Excellence.
He also informed that the Department of Science and Technology is preparing to build a Gift City in Bhopal. It will be developed as EKAI CITY – Education, Knowledge and AI City. For this, funding of about Rs 10 thousand crore will be provided by the Central Government. The state government will also bring funds in this. Four American universities can establish their campuses in Madhya Pradesh, Additional Chief Secretary said that coordination is being done with them also.
MP is becoming an emerging tech hub
Principal Secretary, Science and Technology Department, M. Selvandrum said that Madhya Pradesh is becoming an emerging tech hub of the country. There are 5 IT SEZs, more than 15 IT parks, more than 50 big IT companies and more than 1200 tech startups working here. There are many institutions providing technical education in the state, which include more than 300 colleges, more than 50 thousand technical graduates, IIT, IIITDM, IIM, AIIMS etc. Also discussed were 6 policies of tech sector, MP Startup Policy 2022, capital expenditure, interest subsidy etc.
Investment worth crores came in MP tech sector
In the meeting, M. Selvendram told that investment worth about Rs 12 thousand 500 crore has come in the tech sector in Madhya Pradesh. Due to this, about 50 thousand new jobs have been created. The department is also giving special focus on emerging technology sectors like IT ITES, Quantum and AI, Data Centre, ESDM- Data Center Components Manufacturing, Semi Conductor- Packaging, Design, Fabless Technology, Drone Manufacturing, GCC, AVGC- XR and Space Tech. Proposals for mega projects worth about Rs 5 thousand 892 crore are also in the pipeline under this entire sector in the state.
