According to the information, this important meeting will be held in the office of Shiv Sena (UBT) in the Parliament complex in New Delhi at 11 am on Thursday. This important meeting of Shiv Sena (UBT) parliamentary party will decide whether the efforts of rebel MPs to form a separate faction will be successful or not. This meeting is taking place at a time when a ‘whip’ was issued a day earlier directing MPs to attend it. The move came as speculation grew that a group of rebel Shiv Sena (UBT) MPs were planning to form a separate group in the Lok Sabha and later join the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena.
Shiv Sena (UBT) has nine Lok Sabha MPs and will need at least two-thirds of them to form a separate faction. Apart from Anil Desai, Rajabhau Waje and Arvind Sawant, who have pledged support to the Uddhav faction, the remaining six MPs are Sanjay Patil, Sanjay Deshmukh, Omprakash Raje Nimbalkar, Bhausaheb Wakchore, Nagesh Patil-Ashtikar and Sanjay Jadhav. If even one MP from the rebel group attends the meeting, it cannot be recognized as a separate group.
MP Arvind Sawant has appealed to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla not to recognize any “breakaway” faction claiming to represent the party.
