Google's new Home Speaker brings Gemini AI to your home
17 Jun 2026

Google has officially launched its latest smart speaker, the Google Home Speaker.

The device is designed specifically for the Gemini era and is available for pre-order at a starting price of $99.99. It will start shipping on June 25.

The new speaker comes in four colors: Hazel, Porcelain, Jade, and Berry—just like Pixel phones.

What is new in the Google Home Speaker
Design evolution

The new Google Home Speaker features an underglow light ring that subtly shows when the device is listening, processing, or responding.

This is a departure from the LED lights seen on previous Google Home and Nest speakers.

The speaker is built around Gemini AI from the ground up, enabling it to understand more natural conversations and complex requests than older models.

AI advancement

The new Google Home Speaker's integration with Gemini AI allows users to issue multiple commands at once, correct themselves mid-sentence, and ask follow-up questions without repeating wake words or specific commands.

For instance, you can ask Gemini to "turn off all the lights except for my bedside lamp" or combine several actions into a single request.

The assistant can also maintain conversational context for seamless interaction.

Six months of Google Home Premium free for early buyers
Premium perks

Along with the new speaker, Google is also offering premium Gemini-powered features through Google Home Premium.

These include Gemini Live for conversational interactions, Camera History Search for Nest cameras, and Home Briefs that summarize activity around your home while you're away.

Anyone who buys a Home Speaker before September 30 will get six months of Google Home Premium free.

Improved audio quality
Sound upgrade

Google has also focused on improving the audio quality of its new Home Speaker.

The device delivers balanced 360-degree sound, with a driver that's up to twice as large and 2.5 times stronger bass than the Nest Mini.

It can also be paired with a Google TV Streamer or connected with up to two other Home Speakers for an immersive home theater experience.
