Nangeyalia Kharote records Afghanistan's most expensive ODI four-fer; Rashid shines

India racked up a mammoth 402 (49.5 overs) in the 2nd ODI against Afghanistan at Lucknow's Ekana Stadium.
The hosts, powered by tons from Shubman Gill and Ishan Kishan, were 320/2 within 37 overs.
However, spinners Nangeyalia Kharote and Rashid Khan led Afghanistan's late recovery, restricting India in the death overs.
As per Cricbuzz, Kharote now has the most expensive ODI four-fer for Afghanistan.
Kharote breaks Ishan-Gill stand

Afghanistan, electing to field, managed to remove both Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma before the 100-run mark.
However, the next 23 overs saw the carnage of Gill and Ishan. The duo added 224 runs (140 balls), taking India to 320.
In the 37th over, Kharote broke the blistering partnership by removing Ishan (125).
Despite leaking runs, the spinner then sent back Gill and KL Rahul on successive balls in the 43rd over.

In his next over, Kharote dismissed a scratchy Shreyas Iyer. This reduced India to 371/6.
Rashid, who earlier removed Rohit, struck in the final Powerplay by removing Gurnoor Brar. His next and final victim was Washington Sundar (19).
Rashid, who couldn't complete his full quota, took 3/48 in eight overs.
And Kharote concluded his spell with figures of 4/76 (10).

According to Cricbuzz, Kharote's 4/76 is now the most expensive four-wicket haul for Afghanistan in ODIs. The previous record was with Dawlat Zadran (4/73 vs BAN, Mirpur, 2016).
The left-arm spinner, who made his ODI debut in 2024, now has 17 wickets from 11 ODIs at 18.52.
Meanwhile, Rashid has raced to 214 wickets from 119 ODIs at 19.68. He has the most ODI wickets for Afghanistan.
